We stock and install Viking-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Orlando, and most bracket, hinge, and gate-frame repairs run $225 – $485 parts and labor, with the majority finished same-day. If your Viking gate is sagging, pulling away from a weld, or the operator is fighting the frame, you’re usually looking at a failed weld joint or a broken mounting point, not a full gate replacement. Dean Prescott has spent the better part of two decades in Orlando diagnosing exactly where these welds let go, and the fix is usually faster and cheaper than owners expect.
Portcullis Gate Repair Orlando is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Viking, but we stock Viking-compatible hardware and fabricate to Viking’s original mounting patterns and load ratings.
Which Viking Models This Applies To
Viking gate openers across Orlando commonly show up paired with swing-gate frames, slide-gate track systems, and steel or aluminum driveway gates. The welding and fabrication work we do applies to Viking’s residential swing operators, Viking slide-gate operators, and the brackets, mounting plates, and frame tabs that bolt to them. If your gate was installed in the last 15 years and uses a Viking operator, the mounting hardware is almost certainly repairable or replaceable with an OEM-spec or heavier aftermarket equivalent.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: Viking changed the bolt pattern on their swing-gate mounting brackets around 2014. Older gates used a 4-bolt pattern on a 6-inch spacing; newer units use a slotted plate that adjusts from 4 to 7 inches. If you order a bracket online without measuring, you’ve got a 50/50 chance it doesn’t line up. Flip the bracket over and look for a stamped part number starting with VG or VB. We can match it from a photo if you text it to us before we roll the truck.
For the weld joints themselves, we use 7018 and ER70S-6 filler depending on whether the gate is steel or aluminum, and we match material thickness to the original frame spec. Aftermarket brackets we keep on the truck are cold-rolled steel, powder-coated, and at least as thick as the Viking original. No cheap castings.

Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the hinge end. The top hinge weld or the hinge post itself is starting to tear. In Orlando’s humidity, rust attacks the inside of the weld before you see it on the outside. The gate drops an inch or two and the operator labors to move it.
- The operator runs but the gate only moves a few inches. A broken weld at the gate bracket or a sheared mounting bolt lets the actuator arm push against something that’s no longer attached. The motor sounds fine, but the load isn’t transferring.
- You hear a pop or a crack when the gate starts moving. That’s a weld failing under load, usually at the point where the bracket meets the frame. Once it cracks, it spreads with every cycle until the gate stops moving entirely.
- The gate scrapes the driveway or the track. A welded gate frame that’s coming apart at a corner joint flexes when it moves. The wheel or track carries weight it was never designed for, and wear accelerates fast.
- Rust drips or stains running from a weld joint. Orlando’s afternoon thunderstorms and high humidity work water into any pinhole in a weld. By the time you see rust streaks, the joint underneath is thinner than it looks from the outside.
None of these fail all at once. They degrade over weeks or months, usually until the gate stops one morning or the operator motor burns itself out trying to push a gate that’s no longer square.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Orlando, most Viking welding and fabrication repairs land between $225 and $485 installed, with the price set before we light a torch. Here’s how that breaks down:
- Hinge weld repair or replacement: $225 – $385, including grinding out the old weld, re-welding with matched filler, and a rust-preventative coating.
- Gate bracket or mounting plate replacement: $185 – $340, including the bracket, hardware, welding or bolting, and alignment check.
- Full gate frame re-fabrication (corner joint or cross-member): $350 – $485, including cutting out the failed section, welding in new steel or aluminum, and re-hanging the gate.
- Operator remount and reinforcement plate: $245 – $425, common when the original Viking mount tears out of a thin gate tube.
The price range depends on whether the existing steel is thick enough to weld cleanly, how much rust we have to cut back to get to good metal, and whether the gate needs to come off its hinges for the repair. Every quote is written, agreed to, and signed before any work starts. There’s no surprise on the invoice. Every repair carries the Kingswell Guarantee in writing: if it fails within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That means a free return visit if the weld cracks or the bracket comes loose, no questions, no trip charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself. Look at the hinge welds and the operator mounting bracket with a flashlight. If you see a visible crack, rust weeping from a joint, or a bolt that’s backed halfway out, that’s your answer. You can also watch the gate move and note whether it hesitates, scrapes, or makes a popping sound at a specific point in the travel. Tell me what the gate is doing – or not doing – and I’ll give you a real number before I touch a thing.
What you shouldn’t do is attempt to weld a gate frame or bracket yourself unless you’re a certified welder with a machine sized for the material thickness. A cracked gate under tension can kick when cut. A poor weld on a moving gate fails unpredictably, and we’ve seen gates fall off their hinges after a weekend warrior repair. The gate frame is under load every single time it cycles. If it comes apart, it can come apart hard. Orlando’s moisture also makes farm-store flux-core welds rust through within a year. This is not a place to learn. If you want eyes on it before you commit, we’re glad to come out, inspect the welds, and hand you a written quote. Call (850) 816-3017 and we’ll get you on the schedule.
FAQs
A properly welded steel gate frame in Orlando typically lasts 10 to 15 years before the first weld joint needs attention, and aluminum frames last longer if they were welded with the right filler. The killers are moisture, rust at the weld boundary, and repeated cycling. Gates near the coast or under sprinkler spray fail sooner. We also stock and install parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gates, and the same weld and bracket failure patterns apply across all of them.
In most cases the weld can be ground out and re-welded stronger than the original, as long as the surrounding metal hasn’t rusted through. We’ve saved gates other companies wrote off for replacement. If the tubing itself is rotten or the frame is twisted more than a quarter inch out of square, replacement may be the honest answer. We’ll tell you which one it is before you spend a dollar. Call (850) 816-3017 for a free estimate.
Most hinge weld repairs and bracket replacements are done in 2 to 4 hours, and we often complete them in a single same-day visit. Full frame re-fabrication can take half a day if the gate needs to come off site or be supported while the welds cool. We’ll give you a real arrival window and a written price before the torches come out.
We stock the common Viking hinge brackets, mounting plates, actuator arm hardware, and weld-on tabs on our service trucks across Orlando, along with matched steel and aluminum filler rod. Uncommon or discontinued Viking parts we can usually have within two business days. If you’re not sure what you need, text us a photo of the part and the gate label, and we’ll identify it before we arrive. Call (850) 816-3017 and a live person answers, 24/7.
